Panna cages exist in different sizes. But how big should a panna cage actually be? In this article we advise you about both the height and the size of the panna cage.
The height of the panna cage
Panna cages exist in low and high versions. The right choice depends on the use and location of the arena.
A low panna cage is lighter in weight and therefore more mobile than a high version. Do you want to move your panna field occasionally? Then we recommend a low arena.
Is there such a thing as a minimum height, then? Yes! We apply a minimum height of 60cm for our hypermobile panna cages. High enough to optimally keep the ball in play and act as a safe boarding for the players (above knee height). Low enough to still remain super-mobile.
A high panna cage is heavier and maximally prevents footballs from flying out. This type of panna cage is therefore ideal for a permanent set-up near a busier road, next to water or near houses.
The size of the panna cage
A standard size panna cage (approx. 5.5 - 6m diameter) is made to play 1v1 football in. By using extension panels, the standard circular panna cage can be adapted to a larger oval field. This allows more youngsters to play at the same time. Below is an overview of the playing capacity for the different sizes:
- Circular panna cage (approx. 5.5m - 6m diameter): Suitable for 1 vs 1
- approx. 6m by 8m (oval): Suitable for 2 vs 2 to 3 vs 3.
- approx. 6m by 10m (oval): Suitable for 4 vs 4.
- approx. 6m by 12m (oval): Suitable for 5 vs 5.
All our panna cages are very easy to enlarge by adding extension panels. This way, they can easily be enlarged or reduced in size.
